i've extracted the 00audio.rcf file using a tool i found on this forum, but all the files are in .p3d format, which i can't use in any audio editing program. i assume these are another encrypted archive format? how do i edit extract the audio, edit it, and convert it back to .p3d for for rebuilding the .rcf file?

Most digital audio workstations like Cubase, Reaper are support wave and mp3 format. Other compression formats like ogg, rcf which are compressed in audio middleware or game engine are not supported to edit directly. You should convert them to wave or mp3 files and you can edit in any DAW. If you want to pack all the wave files back to the game, you should use specific tools or the corresponding game audio middleware, it's a little complex.

does there exist a tool to repack the wav files into p3d? i can't one anywhere. there are some for the 3d models, but that's about it. do i need to commission someone to make a repacker for p3d audio files? or screw around with a hex editor and try to make one myself?

It seems DIY is the only way.
