Unity PC game (Also on XBOX and PS4). AssetsBundleExtractor_2.0_64bit allows us to open the .rab (compressed .assets files) as well as the uncompressed resources.assets, etc. but the OBJ export plugin for the car model meshes is an absolute disaster. First thing I can't understand is why if the model is already in FBX that the plugin would convert to OBJ. The second is that everything gets mashed into one single model with no separation of textures and materials, and the model looks horrible compared to a version extracted with something like NinjaRipper, but unfortunately NinjaRipper basically "flips" the car so the driver is on the right and there are all kinds of messed up normals and weirdly placed polygons.

The end goal here is just to get the models to build a car viewer for people to make their own custom skins, and also to bake new shadow maps for the templates.

Anyone more experienced with Unity willing to take a crack at this? Willing to donate the game to someone who has proven experience!

if you think the model is being stored as fbx then you should just "Export Raw" instead of using the "Export to .obj" plugin :)

Tried that with the tire_hires.fbx. Export as "DAT" and change extension to FBX but it fails to load, though the file size seems reasonable (381KB) for a single tire and wheel.

Looks like the car models are actually "asset" files, not FBX so I was mistaken. They do export with the OBJ plugin, but the models are an absolute mess.
