[Unity game] Asian characters not showing up in translation, font issue?

Hello, I have been exploring the possibility to translate a game made in Unity to a language (Chinese) currently not supported.

I have been able to access and export the localization text files from the .asset file and re-import changes to them with no issues, however likely due to font/encoding the special characters do not show up in the game (changes in English show up just fine).

This is my first attempt at modifying an existing game for localization and I'm here looking for guidance as to how to tackle this issue I have.

Thanks!
