I don't suppose anyone could uncompress a WWV file by chance?

I find it weird that Wild Tangent back in the days, used some kind of compressed format for every file in a game. That had to be a huge waste of CPU power.

Anyways, here is the WWV files: http://www.jeffmakesgames.com/misc/PolarBowler_WWV.zip [Nov 20th reupload]

I do notice in the heading of all 3 WWV files have roughly the same thing in it:

"WLD3.wav WildTangent 3D 300 Compressed and Patented
Converted by XtoWT: Thu May 08 12:22:47 2003"

Is this the right place to ask this? I feel like maybe I should have asked in the game archive section.

Yes this is the correct section because it's audio data and not an archive or an unknown file/data. There is a START/BODY struct but in any case it's (unknown) audio data

I feel like it's probably ogg vorbis or something. Maybe something similar to their WKZ format I once contacted you about.

Good day. Does anyone know where to get that XtoWT converter?

These files are playable in the WT Viewer. I will provide a download link for it later, as I've been researching these formats too. You can play each one, record them playing with audacity and eventually export them as WAV. Unfortunately, there's no way to figure these files out as they are both compressed and encypted. The main plan is to track down either a dev from the company or someone else that may have X to WT for model purposes.

I re-uploaded the WWV as I deleted the zip in error earlier. If anyone wants to try a whack at looking into it.

I note that in the header of each file is something like:

----------
WLD3.wav WildTangent 3D 300 Compressed and Patented
Converted by XtoWT: Thu May 08 12:20:24 2003
----------

A while back, Aluigi helped me with Blasterball 3 music, which used a WKZ extension. I don't know if it had similar data to WWV or not.

When is that download link? I would think that if you are able to play the WWV files, that it should be possible to extract the audio file within.

WildTangent compression has two versions, we only are able to decompress version one as of now. WWV's are decompressible for version 1 and not 2, so until we're able to figure out the older ones differences, we only have the one.

Wait, so the file(s) I have uploaded (in original post at top) here is V2 of WWV then?

My mistake. They are de-compressible, just the script doesn't necessarily extract the cabinet file.

I uploaded the music to Polar Bowler recently to HCS' database, which can be found here:
https://vgm.hcs64.com/

Just search for it on there :D

So how do you de-compress them?

If anybody would be kind enough to post the WTExtractor tools in their compiled state it'd really be a blessing (so sorry I literally have no idea how cmake or whatever it is works)
