Ah, ok now it's clear.

quickbms has a reimport feature that allows to reinject/reimport the edited files back in the original archive.
It's explained in section 3 of http://aluigi.org/papers/quickbms.txt

The script seems valid for reimporting so it should work well.

No you can't reimport a larger file because the format uses "sequential files", a larger file would overwrite the next or being overwritten by the next.
