I just started to replay one of my favorite games of all time, the original Assassin's Creed that started the franchise. I have always wanted to get the sounds from weapons and even Altair's voice, but I just can't figure it out. The sounds are in .forge format, and when I extract them with Maki 1.2, I just get a lot of files that don't even have an extension. Please help... DecUbiSndGui doesn't work at all. I don't know how to extract/decompile these sounds, it's really been tough to get a hold of these sounds as little to no progress has been made... I uploaded a sample here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/jvehe2shbroia ... s.zip?dl=0
(Warning: Large file)

Ok, so I tried using all the exisiting programs out there but it looks like it's not possible to extract audio files with none of them, only textures. Audio is probably possible with newer AC games since people spend more time developing the programs then from the older games.

i remember writing some script for the .forge format since ages ago, so i made said script available through my "script compendium" kind of thread

if you don't want to get through all the cancer that is my posts regarding that thread here's a link that might help you guys on a quest for getting anything out of these .forge files

Yeah, these extracted Common_BAO files I got too. That's as far as I can personally go.

well, i can straighten out the whole "no extension" issue if you wish
although i'm not very keen at starting over since right now - as far as newer Ubisoft games go - just about one file format is used in stored "forge" archives anyway

Well, I'd love to have the old sounds. If you can and want to, that'd be great!

Download this tool kit provided by bnm:
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/ ... 655/bao.7z

And now a direct quote:
Code:
read carefully the rip guide and don't forget to change the .bms settings to write 1 channel BAOs too, for voices
in case of Assassin's Creed, most BAO_0x2NNNNNNN are headers (playable), while BAO_0x3NNNNNNN and Common/CzechBAO are data (not directly playable)
however you'll need to wait for next vgmstream version since Czech BAOs aren't recognized right now
after that, once you get all BAO_0x and Common/Czech BAOs in the same dir play BAO_0x, not Common/Czech BAOs
The inside rip guide can explain the aspects of it

This should be able to allow you to dump all the mono and stereo voice dialog files.

I tried this tool, and it works fine for english files only, and I'm not interested in english voices :/ But it works well.

So I managed to extracted perfectly readable and complete audio files using Quickbms scripts scimitar.bms and assassins_creed_raw.bms (then just scan the .dat file with a file ripper), but it doesn't work for most of the forge files (for example Datapc_Acre.forge), and gives uncomplete audio files. How can I extract them properly and have the complete sound file. I'll let a sample of the .dat file obtained with Quickbms and an extension less bao file. If anyone can help, it'll be cool

How did you managed to get sounds files with the bms script ?
After extracting "Common_BAO_0x5...." files i launch the "assassin_creed_raw" script but it says that no sound has be founded.
