Hi, I have an unPAKed music archive. the music files all have .ue extension. there are also small 1kb files with .uass extension. I was told i can play them in foobar with vgmstream plugin, but it doesn't work.
I've tried various searches, but as you can imagine, UE is a very difficult term to narrow down. I don't even know what these files are, they have names that reflect individual music tracks so i have to assume they are a proprietary music format?
thanks

Thanks for your replies. I can provide samples tomorrow when I'm at my pc, but basically what I'm trying to do is extract the music from the dragon quest xi orchestral mod and replace one of the tracks with an empty file so the music does not play, and then repak it. I thought I'd be able to figure it out because I make games in unity but this is all a minefield and I truly suck at it. I've unpacked the files but they don't work and I don't know which part I've got wrong. Wrong bms script or wrong file extensions or wrong vgmstream plug in or wrong repack tool etc.

BTW I spoke to a couple of the guys who made the mod and they said they are okay with me doing it myself but they aren't prepared to provide it for me or give me their tools etc. Which is fine, it's their prerogative.

I'd like to make my own music mod for DQXI, so I'm at the very same situation like you was one year ago. infogram found out that the files are simply notted: viewtopic.php?p=38247#p38247

(Btw, DQXI was built using UE 4.14.)

However, I'm still unable to extract the sound file (*.uexp) after notting it. The asset displays in UE, but when trying to open all I get is a "Failed to load assets" without any detailed messages about it. Very frustrating.
