Ys. vs Sora no Kiseki/Ys Seven (Nihon Falcom) (PSP) - data.lst

Featured Replies

Hello. Ys. vs Trails in the Sky (2025 Remaster) came out a couple days ago and i just want to port some content from the remaster to the PSP English Patch. I tried porting the English voices but the repacked game simply crashes. I figured out that the data.lst file is the culprit behind this. I was able to get some specs about the file itself. I have described it below.

File offsets:

0x00 - Unknown (possibly size of game files)

0x04 to 0x80/90 - File extensions (.at3, .pmf, .itp, .ptf, .png, etc.)

Data structure:

0x00 - Filename/Folder

0x08 - File size

0x0c - LBA Offset (for example, data.lst is stored at LBA offset 57276)

0x0e - Unknown (possibly file type 1?)

0x0f - Unknown (possibly file type 2?)

And with the information i found, the data.lst repacking is followed, first, repack game files into .iso, then generate data.lst with correct filename,  LBA and size offsets.

I provide zip file containing two .lst from Ys. vs Sora no Kiseki, one for Japan version, and another for eng patch.

EDIT: I found more info here:

1. Yes. The first 4 bytes are the file size.

20 E5 01 - 124192 bytes,

80 F9 01 - 129408 bytes.

Furthermore, before the file index, there are 2 bytes telling us how many "files" there are in the index. These also differ:

11 1E - 7697 - Eng

57 1F - 8023 - Jap

And the very beginning of the files, which contains the file extensions, which are half different for both the English and Japanese versions.

I should also add that the file is only an index of file names, where in addition to the name, there is also the file size and extension, which we take from the top of the file.

This file allows you to read the main game files and extract all the files with all their names and extensions.

Thanks, but i tried out the falcom_lst tool with UMDGen but replacing the vag files cause the tool to return an error. I guess a new and better tool should be created to handle the English .vag files or other modded files. and then repack as ISO.
