I've extracted the Beyond Space Remastered Edition game files with QuickBMS and can view and edit all files except for the ship model files, which are in the 3D printer format AMF (I presume that they are built up in slices). They seem to be compiled, because I cannot read them as text with Notepad , it's all gibberish.

Was the QuickBMS script inadecuate or are these AMF files indeed compiled?
Can anyone write a decompiler, if so?
I would like to be able to substitute these ship models with other ones.
