Because it's a chunk based format in which parts of 65536 bytes are read from the file and compressed.
If the entropy of one of these chunks is bigger than the original chunk, it can't be compressed more than before and it can't be reimported (even if you use reimport2 since they are sequential chunks).

So, I guess whether this works then is sort of random (i.e. depending on whatever happens to end up in those chunks)?
After all, the 2MB bank worked just fine, and its chunks should've been bigger than 65K as well. Or am I misunderstanding something about the process (very likely)?

Anything "desperate" I could try, (e.g. dumping some files, reducing file sizes, etc.)? Or is that pretty much the end of the road for me?

Yeah, sort of random.
You can have 99% of the importing file with an entropy equal or lower than the original and 1% that is higher and can't be compressed as before.

There are other solutions for UE4 pak archive, try checking the recent posts and then posting here:

I want to delete videos of .pak files, so I made 0B files of the videos with the same names, and tried to import them, and that fails with reimport1 and 2. Any help will be appreciated.

I don't see any problem with that 0-bytes file reimporting method, what's the error you get?

Hello, aluigi-san, im trying reimport some file but have a little trouble, hope you can help me.

Current im use this script to extract:
https://aluigi.altervista.org/bms/god_eater_2.bms

And, i try hard reimport file 00005cec.dat, but it dont work.

I sure that i do all exactly. Follow this:
Reimport.bat >> Choose Script >> Choose Archive File >> The folden storage 00005cec.dat.

But it dont work, i wonder, maybe because it dont storaged in a folden, so this script dont work?

Before, i tried some file random in any folden like 107, 400... etc, just place it to exactly folden, it will work. But this file really dont have a folden for it.

I tried place it inside a newfolden or choose reimport it directly, but dont work, hope you can help me explain this. Thanks.

This some screen of its, hope it useful to you check. Thanks.

How do I make quickbms automatically close when the script completes?
I will write my own .bat script and the user will be able to enter the game simply by clicking on this file.

Seriously, do the same just like if you are extracting the files to the same folder.
QuickBMS will do the job automatically
  • quickbms will show the names of the files that have been reimported
  • try the game with the new archive

Hi everybody !!

Just tried to reimport files into a Farming Simulator file but could not get it working.

Let's say that i'm temporarily working in C:\TempBMS, where I put the quickbms exe files, the fs.txt "script" file, and the Farming archive (named here archive.dlc)

I used this command to reimport files that were uncompressed in C:\TempBMS\archive\ :

Code:
quickbms.exe -G -w -r fs.txt c:\TempBMS\archive.dlc c:\TempBMS\archive\

Was it a right command ? Or did I make something wrong ??

Thanks for replying !!
