No need to repack the psarc file, just rename the core.psarc to something else and extract all of the file inside core.psarc to main folder.

you saying the game runs with unpacked files? that's mod support right out the gate.

and... welp... doesn't actually unpack the core or other .psarc files

It should be fixed in v1.1 now: https://github.com/amrshaheen61/TLOU_PS ... s/tag/v1.1

and yep, game runs fine with unpacked, just unpack all the .psarc from the build\pc\main\ folder into build\pc\main\ (except bin.psarc and shaders.psarc, those have to be extracted into build\pc\main\bin\).
After that you should have folders like build\pc\main\actor97\, build\pc\main\pak68\ etc, then you can move/delete the psarcs you extracted and game should still be able to run fine.

Load times were hugely reduced for me too (game doesn't even have time to show the loading bar  ), wonder if it might help people that have stutters too since game doesn't have to handle as much oodle stuff now, hopefully there'll be a way to automate the extraction eventually so more people can try it.

Not sure what the priority is if you keep the psarc and copy modded files into build\pc\main\ though, Fluffy Manager seems to always repack into psarc, so maybe means psarc takes priority...

Only psarcs I couldn't get to work unpacked were the voice lines in build\pc\main\speech1, doesn't look like game ever tries reading those unpacked.
You can extract them & then use orbis-psarc.exe to pack into uncompressed psarc though ("orbis-psarc.exe create -N -IFilesMap.txt -oenglish.psarc")

E: did a quick load time comparison

original files:
- ~8 seconds from start of spinning logo -> usable main menu
- 40-50 seconds from load game -> playable character

unpacked files:
- ~4 seconds spinning logo
- 20-24 seconds to load game

So unpacked can halve the loading times for you, not bad :)
(tho I am running this on a pretty high speed nvme, would likely differ on other devices)

i used u4.unpacker. got that bin and shader thing too. runs the game just fine tho. some lighting and graphics in the intro house did break. had no speech issues. i did not measure the level loading speed. ingame and while streaming assets it's unchanged. so... yeah. nice tool tho.

Ah yeah just noticed some lighting/textures were broke with it unpacked too, darn.
Too bad since load time was much quicker on my system, guess that could just be because it was failing to load properly though.

Will have to try testing it out with uncompressed psarc from orbis-psarc soon.

E: well repacking each individual psarc with "orbis-psarc create -IFilesMap.txt -o[out-file-name].psarc -N" does let it create some pretty massive psarc files that the game appears to read in fine, doesn't seem to have the texture issues that running it unpacked had, but I don't really know if there's any load time difference with this.

(FilesMap.txt comes from the TLOU unpack tool, other tools might not create that)

Apparently lots of people have stutter issues which seems to be blamed on game decompressing data as you play through the level - maybe running it unpacked like this could help with that, my system never really had much stutter issues tho so I can't really tell if it helped.
There's also likely still a lot of compressed stuff in the data besides the psarc files themselves, running with this won't really change those at all.

For anyone that wants to give this a try, orbis-psarc might be hard to locate, but there is a Fake_PKG_Tools_v1.5.1 package that might contain it.

Hello, I'm looking into adding Japanese text files as one of the other languages in order to make it available as menu/subtitle language in the uncensored ROW version.

I unpacked core.psarc, used the Lastofus2TextTool on the .common and .subtitles files and the hashes in them are the same between the Japanese and the others.
So I made a mod for Fluffy Manager that takes the Japanese files renamed as others (tried various languages).
I also checked the fonts and tried adding the Japanese fonts renamed as various different ones to my mod.

Yes I always end up with "UNKNOWN STRING" as all menu texts and basic English (fallback option?) as subtitles.

Anyone have any idea what more needs to be done?

Later I will try with NoobInCoding's localization tool.
