Hi everyone I've discovered that several PSX games by Konami use a file format with the extension ".FAD". My goal is to unpack these FAD archives and translate the games. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any information online about this specific format, and I lack the technical expertise to reverse-engineer it myself. I'm hoping someone here might have some insight into this format. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! I've attached FAD files from two different games as examples. files.zip

This game uses a table file named siren.tbl that was initially encrypted. I made an assumption, given the many FF values there were on the file and how I expected the first value in the file to be an 'S', and XORed the entire file with FF. At first glance the readable filenames give away the index should now be readable. This is all I can make out on this file's structure, read in little endian: File header - 0x20 bytes long 4 - ID (SDT4) 4 - Number of files per the filenames (matches when you subtract the number of 0x0000 in the tail to the number of 0x00 hex values) 4 - Index's total filesize 4 - Unknown (large 32 bit value) 4 - Unknown (equals to 0x20, might the the…

  7. Good evening, and thank you for taking the time to read this. I am interested in ripping character animations from several Android role-playing and RPG games, specifically from the character select menus/archives. The game I am currently interested in is Pixel Duel, which is available on the Google Play Store. These animations are cool and perfect for a side project I want to pursue. I just stumbled upon the world of ripping, so I have almost no experience when it comes to this. After researching, I could extract the APK file from the game on Bluestacks and export it to my computer. I also extracted several files from the original APK file; however, I am lost on what…

  12. Hey, I'm looking into building a reliable databin (un)packer for Ninja Gaiden Sigma (and later 2&3). Reverse engineering the actual databin file itself was fairly straightforward. It doesn't however contain any names for archived content. Looking at the executable itself, a complete name table exists in the PE .rdata. Being rdata though, it is interspersed with unrelated content. Manually removing that yields the correct number of entries (6515, as per the archive header), but I have concerns over ordering and would preferably like to automate this process. Does anyone have any experience with such a situation? How are the strings in the rdata actually referenced…

Hi guys. I'm trying to get the game to work with edited text so we can make a translation, but I'm hitting a dead end. I've used the fear.bms script to get the files from the .arch05 file. Then used the shadow_of_mordor.bms to get the globalresources_en.embb file and the swuforce script to get the subtitles. However, when I try to get the subtitles into the .embb files it seems that it gets corrupted somehow and when I load up the file the game crashes. I will include all the scripts and the file bellow. Does anyone have any ideas what's going wrong and how to fix it? Thanks in advance! shadowofmordor.7z

Hello, does anyone have access to the raw texture converter? I'm unable to download it. It was originally located here - https://web.archive.org/web/20231012075441/https://forum.xentax.com/viewtopic.php?t=16461 Thanks

  20. I wanted to get some practice with poking around with games until I can edit the text, kind of foolish since I can't code and make decompression programs. After all the memory viewing to see how the text was displayed, I didn't bother to check if the game files were packed in an archive or not (they were).res.7z

  24. This is a strategy game by Konami (https://konami.fandom.com/wiki/Negima!%3F_Dream_Tactic_Yumemiru_Otome_Princess). In the game's files, there seeems to be 3 types of files : DAT / GRP / MAP. DAT seems to be text files because opening these with Shift JIS gives the game's text. Images seems to be in these GRP / MAP files but I don't know how to extract (uncompress ?) these so feel free to help. 25. I wanted to have the japanese voice of this game but only found story voices and no gameplay voices so I'm asking here to see if someone know where they are. I've extracted the iso (google is your friend) with https://www.bwass.org/bucket/triAce-PS2.c and this gives lots of files extensions : .000 / .010 / .020 / .bin / .crc / .dcm / .fas / .fis / .idx / .mc / .mcp / .mwo / .pk1 / .pk2 / .pk3 / .rma / .seq / .sle / .slz / .unk / .zls. I provide a download link for the extracted files in case you don't want to extract the iso manually : https://mega.nz/file/pV8BADrZ#o4iNV6vtpotw4tb1HUPXlBVoWHydnWT32GdoskKFaFw PSound seems to be able to extract voices from th…
